Our halibut fillets are frozen and individually vacuum-sealed in 7 to 12 oz. packages. They are boneless & skinless, and do not include any tail portions.
Vacuum-sealed halibut fillet portions can be stored in your freezer for several months. Halibut fillets can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 hours before preparation. The vacuum-sealed packages can also be ran under cold water to speed this up considerably.
An average serving size of halibut fillet would be one half pound. This would apply to both a fillet entree or other cooking methods such as battered halibut.
Halibut is good source of folic acid, niacin, potassium, selenium, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Regular consumption of halibut lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, and is extremely beneficial in lowering homocysteine levels in the body.
