Additional Product Info
Our halibut tail portions are flash-frozen and individually vacuum-sealed in packages that typically range between 1/4 and 3/4 lb. They are boneless & skinless.
Frozen, vacuum-sealed halibut tail portions can be stored in your freezer for several months. The halibut portions can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 hours before preparation. The vacuum-sealed packages can also be ran under cold water to speed up the thawing process considerably.
An average serving size of halibut would be about one half pound. This would apply to both a fillet entrée or other cooking methods such as battered halibut.
Halibut is good source of folic acid, niacin, potassium, selenium, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Regular consumption of halibut lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, and is extremely beneficial in lowering homocysteine levels in the body. Halibut is also good for improving blood flow and distribution of nutrients to the entire body.
Commercial Fishing Season (Available Fresh):
Availability (Frozen):
Alaska halibut is a large, almost annual fishery, making it available all year round. Fresh-frozen processing and glazing allows halibut to be kept frozen for long periods of time with insured quality and means of distribution. Alaskan fishermen catch halibut sustainably, using long-lining fishing methods, which minimizes by-catch, and is regulated under strict harvest limits & regulations.
