This product ships frozen with dry ice and is ready to be held in your freezer. When you're ready to prepare, make sure to thaw under refrigeration for 12 to 24 hours prior to your meal.

Our black cod fillet portions are flash-frozen and individually vacuum-sealed in 7 to 12 oz. packages.
Frozen black cod fillet portions can be stored in your freezer for several months. The frozen fillets can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 hours before preparation, or the vacuum-sealed packages can also be ran under cold water to speed this up considerably.
About 1/3 to 1/2 pound per person is a good portion size when serving black cod. You might find that black cod is so good that you'll want to prepare extra just in case.
Swimming free in deep, frigid waters of the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska, this premium whitefish develops the rich oil content that gives it its distinctive flavor and texture. Alaska Black Cod is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, yielding a fish that’s an excellent source of high-quality protein. Black cod also furnishes iodine, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and calcium. The fats in Black Cod are highly polyunsaturated and thus well-suited to low cholesterol diets.

Black Cod is caught in Alaska's fixed gear fisheries using longlines and pots, and conducted under Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) programs. The majority of caught black cod is distributed to Japanese markets.
