Additional Product Info
Our Alaska scallops are frozen and vacuum-sealed in 1 lb. packages. They are shucked, cleaned, and ready to be prepared after thawing. These large scallops are 10-20 count, which means there are 10 to 20 scallops per pound.
Frozen scallops can be stored in your freezer for several months. Frozen scallops can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 to 16 hours before preparation. The vacuum-sealed packages can also be ran under cold water to speed this up considerably.
A one pound package of large scallops would be good for 3 to 4 people. That would serve 5 to 6 scallops per person.
Scallops are more than 80 percent protein! One 3-ounce serving provides 20 grams of protein and just 95 calories. They are also a powerhouse of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Scallops are an excellent source of a very important nutrient for cardiovascular health, vitamin B12. They're also a good source of both magnesium and potassium, two other nutrients that provide significant benefits for the cardiovascular system.
FishEx only offers "dry-packed" Alaska scallops that are all-natural and contain no water-absorbing phosphates.
Alaska scallop fishing began in 1967 around Kodiak Island. Currently, Alaska's scallop fishery is from Cape Spencer to Yakutat. Crews run 2 dredges while shucking, washing, and icing scallops around the clock.
