Additional Product Info
Our broken snow crab pieces are pre-cooked, flash-frozen, glazed, then packaged in clear plastic bags for easy freezer storage.
Frozen broken snow crab pieces can be stored in your freezer for several months. To thaw broken snow crab pieces, place them in the refrigerator a day prior to cooking. Rinse quickly under cold running water, to remove any lingering freezing brine. Left-over broken snow crab should be kept under refrigeration and consumed within a couple of days.
Our broken snow crab pieces are very popular and usually get bought out very quickly. Buying just enough for an entrée, or stocking your freezer are both options due to their discounted pricing and limited availability.
Snow crab is low in fat and calories, yet high in protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron. It is also a good source of Folate and Magnesium, and a very good source of Vitamin B12, Phosphorus, Zinc, Copper and Selenium. On the other hand, snow crab is very high in cholesterol and sodium.
Commercial Fishing Season (Available Fresh):
Availability (Frozen):
Alaska's annual fishing quota for snow crab is usually much larger than that of other species - making snow crab one of the most abundant types of Alaska crab available. Alaska snow crab is sustainably-caught, and fishing is regulated by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. By law, only male crabs are retained, leaving the lucky females to remain in the Bering Sea and provide more tasty crab for all of us! Alaska's main commercial fishery for Snow crab starts in January and generally last for several months. It is considered one of the harshest crab fisheries due to the winter months that it takes place in.
